SPORTS AND ATHLETICS - PROFILE

Dr.L.Bullayya Jr. College

The Significance of Physical Education

Physical Education is an integral part of the overall educational process, aimed at developing physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially fit citizens through the medium of physical activities.

Our college has consistently upheld this philosophy since its inception, thanks to the unwavering support and encouragement of Dr. G. Madhukumar, our Secretary & Correspondent. His commitment has ensured the provision of comprehensive infrastructure for sports and games, including a large playground for athletics, football, cricket, hockey, and track and field sports, which serves as a special privilege for our athletes. Separate courts for volleyball, basketball, badminton, and kabaddi further enhance our facilities.

The enthusiasm and dedication of our Physical Directors have been significant contributors to our success in physical education. We provide well-equipped modern gymnasiums for both boys and girls, along with mini-auditoriums for indoor games. Our department is supported by well-qualified and experienced Physical Directors, senior coaches, and skilled ground staff, who are invaluable assets to our institution. The sportsmen and women of our college are the torchbearers of our success in both general and physical education.

The Legacy of the Department of Physical Education

Our college has been a forerunner in sports and games, earning numerous medals, prizes, and trophies at various levels, including University, District, State, National, and International competitions. We take pride in our past sports personalities who have brought numerous accolades to our institution. The invaluable contributions of Sri P. Manmadha Rao, the former Physical Director of our college, to the field of sports and games are fondly remembered, and we pay tribute to his legacy.

The department is committed to continuing this journey of success with the same vigour and spirit in the years to come. Our college has produced a significant number of sports personalities across various events at different levels. Notably, Mr. Chima Okhoria, a former player of our college football team, represented the Indian Football Team in past years. Additionally, eight of our cricketers have represented Andhra in the Ranji Trophy matches, four have played for the Under-19 Indian Cricket Team, and seven have been part of the South-Zone Universities Combined Team in the All-India Inter-University VIJJI Trophy.
